Sony MZ5 Features

WAP and Internet e-mail
With the Sony MZ5 you can send and receive e-mails and be online with all your friends and colleagues any time. Wherever you are and need information, the Sony MZ5 gives you access to WAP and HTML pages.

Scheduler
There is no need to carry a calendar, as you can set dates and important appointments in the scheduler of your phone, and may be reminded with an optional alarm alert.

Advanced Answering Machine
The CMD-MZ5 answering machine can be assigned for all incoming calls, a specific group or only one number. In addition a voice memo function in the phone allows you to record whatever comes to your mind when you do not have anything to write with.

Sony Mobile Phonebook
The phonebook has a capacity for 500 contacts additional to SIM card. You can save up to three telephone or fax numbers to each contact, and two further text lines e.g. for e-mail or address.

Entertainment
When you wait for your plane, lie at the beach or whenever you have some spare time, the Sony MZ5 can entertain you. Four different games, such as Sport Fishing, Disc Golf, Clay Shooting and Mole Hitting give you the choice

Display
The Sony M Z5 features a 4 grayscale display with a high resolution of 96 x 72 pixel. By switching on the Sony M Z5, you can choose between several welcome animations.

Advanced Jog Dial
Because power is nothing without control, the Sony M Z5 puts all it's options at the tip of your finger. Literally. Using a single finger the Advanced Jog Dial system helps you navigate in five dimensions; press in, backwards, forwards, up and down to access even more features. You're guided with the help of pop-up menus, like a PC, for ease of access. By scrolling the Jog Dial you can access WAP services and e-mail as well as regular features like your phonebook, ringer options and messages.

World Clock
The clock on Sony MZ 5 allows you to set an alarm, which activates the ringer or the vibrator. Three types of clock can be selected (24 hours, AM/PM, with date) and if your phone is in standby mode, you will always see the date and time. The graphic world time clock informs you about the time, as well as the country- and city code, which can be selected on the world map>

T9 ™ Text Input
Using a combination of the Sony MZ5 Jog Dial and T9 ™ Text Input, writing SMS messages are fast and fun. With just one key-press per character, the internal dictionary will provide a list of optional words. You just select the one you want. You can even add new words to your personal T9 ™ dictionary. Music
With the Sony MZ5 your can playback sound data recorded on the supplied 64MB MagicGate Memory Stick. The music for Sony MZ5 can be downloaded on the Memory Stick either via the PC or from a Hi-fi device. This music cellular offers various possibilities of playback either with a headphone or with active speakers.

OpenMG
OpenMG is a copyright protection technology, developed by Sony, that allows recording and playback of digital music data on a personal computer. Once the data is encrypted and recorded onto the hard disk of a personal computer, OpenMG allows the music to be copied on the Magic Gate Memory Stick via the optional USB reader. The purpose of OpenMG is to create an environment in which greater quantities of high-quality music can be distributed without subsequent unauthorised distribution of the music files.

MagicGate Memory Stick
The Memory Stick stores 64 MB, which means up to 120 minutes of your favourite music. This thin and compact in size Magic Gate Memory Stick features data and product compatibility to PCs, Camcorders, Cyber-shots, Digital Still Cameras, Memory Stick IC Recorders and many other devices. The MagicGate Memory Stick can store PC data, images and voice files. As for music files requiring copyright protection, the OpenMG Jukebox must be used.
