Specifications
The
A2618s is the latest addition to our the Ericsson A-class family of
phones. Based on a new platform, it features a sensuous s-curve design
and contains the latest developments in software and functionality.
A2618s offers voice-activated dialling/answering, profiles, and WAP
over SMS. It also features exchangeable Snap-On Covers that can be obtained
as accessories. These covers enclose both the front and back of the
phone, are available in an extensive array of patterns and colours and
have been chosen to satisfy every conceivable taste or demand.

Application Protocol (WAP) is the main worldwide industry
standard for providing fast information and services on digital
mobile phones and other wireless terminals. Ericsson is a
leading part in founding the WAP Forum, an association that
has developed the world standard for wireless information
and telephony services on digital mobile phones and other
wireless terminals. |

What
does it mean that A2618 only supports WAP over SMS? |

|
A2618
uses SMS as a bearer for WAP (compared to e.g. R320 that use
either Circuit Switched Data, CSD, or SMS). The interface
for the user is the same. In some cases it can take longer
time to access pages than with CSD. The advantage of WAP over
SMS compared to over CSD is that you can make a phone call
at the same time as accessing WAP pages. Remember that WAP,
either if it is over SMS or CSD, always is network dependent.
All Network Operators may not decide to support the service. |

with specially designed interactive services and view WAP

The
A2618 is reliable, fun, and easy to use and supports extended
personalisation features!
Snap-on Covers have been specially developed to complement
the uncompromising beauty of this phone. There is an extensive
range of covers available that are easily exchanged, cover
both front and back of the phone, and offer instant colour
co-ordination and personalisation.
A2618 has unique start-up and shutdown shows. There is a standard
Ericsson show with sound and animation and another that can
be installed with an Ericsson Mobile Office DI 28 called "My
animation". This lets you install a photograph of a loved
one, choose a start-up melody or even compose your own melody.
A third show exists that allows the phone to be customised
for commercial purposes.
It handles WAP over SMS and has voice-activated dialling/answering
that lets you make or reject calls with the sound of your
voice. A2618 also contains a profile function that allows
your phone to suit different situations. Also, for cost control,
A2618 introduces a SMS-counter which keeps track of your SMS
sent. Even more, the A2618 have two new games in addition
to Tetris. |
